Dr. John
Linner is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter,
Minnesota; and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He interned
on a Harvard Service at Boston City Hospital in 1944. He is a Clinical
Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota.
He has
served as president of the Minnesota Medical Society, the
Minneapolis Surgical Society, and the American Bariatric and Metabolic
Surgery Society, where he received the Outstanding Achievement Award,
and the Distinguished Member Award. He has written a textbook entitled
Surgery For Morbid Obesity, published by Springer Verlag
Publishing, NY in 1984.
Dr.
Linner married Evodia Larson in 1948; they have five daughters and nine
grandchildren. They live in Edina, Minnesota and Rio Verde, Arizona.
It was pressure and encouragement from his wife and daughters that
prompted Dr. Linner to publish his verbatim diary and overview of the
war.
